 In 1992 the innovative firm was set up in Dubna. Its specialists were designing internal and external network support for the JINR Later, the firm was transformed into the "Contact" company and the JINR became one if its clients. Today "Contact" is known not only in Dubna but also far off the city. The firm is developing in several directions. One of the main ones is designing and constructing networks with a different degree of difficulty, starting with the connection of 2-3 computers and ending with handling large objects such as the JINR networks. "Contact" is licensed to produce optic-fiber cables, for it has all the necessary facilities as well as professional staff. The company has direct connections with well-known suppliers of equipment such as New Bridge Network Systems, Cisco etc. "Demos Internet" is one of the chief partners of the "Contact" company. The two firms together with a State enterprise "Space Communications" are carrying out a serious work on IP-Spacelink project. Its aim is to supply the regions where there are no wire connections with provider sites. The project is already functioning in Salekhard, Ukhta, Arkhangelsk, Pskov and is going to be introduced in other cities. Among the users of "Contact" are private persons as well as other companies and firms. "Contact" is the only official Internet provider in Dubna. It provides with the access to Internet and hosting. For non-commercial organizations hosting is free. In 1999 the access to Internet was opened for all comers. There are several computers right in the office for this purpose. The company is also working on the software of applied and systematic levels. "Contact" is a dealer in selling the MTN (the Moscow Telephone Network) telephones and also engaged in selling computer equipment.
